We planned our trip for late summer heading into fall, catching both the warm Gulf days and the breezy early autumn nights. The shift was subtle: mornings slightly cooler, the angle of sun softer, a few migrating birds appearing. The contrast made each moment richer.

Days were beachy: swimming, boating, exploring marsh edges. Afternoons sometimes clouded, pushing us to the pool or clubhouse. The resort’s amenities—laundry, clean bathhouses, dog park—made those in-between times comfortable.

One evening we hosted a seafood paella in a large skillet over coals (saffron rice, shrimp, sausage, veggies). The aroma drew neighbors, and we formed an impromptu dinner circle.

Night was cooler; we pulled blankets close, told stories by fire, sipped cider. In that transition season, every breeze, every soft sunset, felt more vivid.
