When we told our kids we were headed to Aransas Oaks RV Resort, their eyes lit up at the promise of beach and fun. From day one, we were on a mission: maximum play, minimal boredom.
We spent morning after morning at Rockport Beach. My daughter and I held umbrella-topped picnics and built epic sandcastles—complete with moats and flags. We raced to the shallow waves for splash fights. At low tide, we hunted shells and crab critters (with supervision).
Back at camp, the kids splashed in the pool while we adults napped. We grilled burgers and corn, and one evening we did a camping pizza night: pre-rolled dough, marinara, cheese, sliced veggies and pepperoni, cooked in a cast-iron pan over coals (lid on top, coals above too).
One night the campground hosted a potluck at the clubhouse—neighbors brought salads, desserts, and storytelling. The kids ran rounds of tag; we swapped travel tales. The friendly, relaxed vibe made this one of our favorite family trips ever.
