We were newbies to RV travel and chose Aransas Oaks RV Resort as our first “big” test. We studied manuals, practiced hookups, and arrived anxious—but excited.

The staff walked us through leveling, hook-ups, and water connections. We settled (a bit shaky). That afternoon we drove into town for groceries and soaked up local flavor.

Over days we learned: how to manage waste tanks, conserve water, keep cool in sun, use awnings. We made rookie meals (burnt sausages), then improved: campfire foil dinners (potatoes, onions, sausage, seasoning) became our go-to. We grilled fish, made slaw, and even tried homemade s’mores.

Neighbors offered help, swapped tips, told us “you’ll get the hang of it.” By day five we were more confident: leveling in minutes, cooking on schedule, relaxing into pace. We left with new skills, new inspiration, and the confidence to do more RVing.
