We decided to slow travel and stay at Aransas Oaks for two weeks. We unpacked fully, made a little home. The resort’s on-site laundry, free WiFi, and clubhouse made long stay comfortable.
Days settled into rhythms: morning beach walks, midday naps or reading, afternoon excursions (birding trails, boat rentals, local markets), evenings communal dinners or quiet reading.
One night we hosted a “taste of home” potluck: I made Tex-Mex enchiladas, another guest brought coleslaw, someone else brought dessert. We swapped recipe cards, laughed about kitchen disasters.
On a cloudy afternoon we played board games in the clubhouse. The resort felt like a small village; neighbors turned into friends. Leaving after two weeks felt bittersweet—but I felt rested deeper than before.
